This is a common theme when I play the accordion. The truth is that I play American music. You read correctly. Most of the works performed here were written (or at least arranged) specifically for the accordion right here in the USA. The sheet music was printed here, and sold by the tens of thousands, all over the world. In the 1940’s and 1950’s, the accordion was so popular that it came third only to the piano and violin. This music is “as American as apple pie”.
